The One and Only …. AKSHAY KUMAR

The Khiladi¹ of the Hindi Film industry and for me currently the Khiladi of style. Akki oooooooooooooooozes style and has become one of the biggest style icons in India today. This six foot hottie maintains himself well and has his own signature style, which I must say I am a HUGE fan of. He’s never afraid of experimenting and trying new things. Even a quirky rolled up t-shirt sleeve looks so stylish on him. My opinion? Akshay has a style statement which is perfect to the T.

Here’s my style tribute to the one and only Akshay Kumar.

One of Akshay’s old movies that comes to mind straight away is the 1994 movie “Mohra²”.  I have watched this movie sooo many times as a kid that I can even recognise the background scores which run through the movie. Yes, the background score – I remember being on the phone to a friend and I could hear the TV running in the background and all of a sudden I heard the background score and squealed “Oooooh you’re watching Mohra.” My friend was shocked and instantly told me I was insane! Haha

Ok so back to the point, Akshay had a more rugged yet smart look in this film. Playing the role of a police inspector in the film he was seen a lot in uniform and suits. The most memorable style statements in “Mohra” was his flamboyant black harem pant and red embellished waistcoat “Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast Mast³” outfit and his wet white shirt in “Tip Tip Barsa Paani⁴”. The style quota and popularity of these songs made every man in India want to look like Akshay Kumar.

On the note of “Tip Tip Barsa Paani”. Akshays more recent released “De Dana Dan⁵” had a song which I’m sure had fans reminiscing the “Tip Tip Barsa Paani” days. This time Katrina Kaif⁶ swayed in the rain in a yellow sari with Akshay and he looked hot as ever in yet again another white shirt with floral embellishment.

Akki’s quirky contemporary Mahabharat⁷ type look in the song “Paisa Paisa⁸” from the same film “De Dana Dan” also is one of my favourites. A great mix of modern day causal with old mythology style.

See the song here:

More Dashing Style from Akshay in “De Dana Dan”. I’m sure my Chamiyas will agree – that is one KILLER smile!

In the movie “Singh is Kinng⁹”, Happy Singh (Akshay’s character) made Sardars¹⁰ sexy and stylish. With matching turbans embellished with brooches, a stylised beard and suave suits with quirky details. Every girl I knew wanted a Happy Singh in their lives, including me!!! Lol.

“Kambakkht Ishq¹¹” – Akshay totally rocked the tailored casual look that I spoke of in my last blog in this movie.

In the song “Mast Kalandar¹²” from the movie “Heyy Baby¹³”, which the Baadshah¹⁴ of Hindi Films ShahRukh Khan¹⁵ makes a special appearance alongside Akshay Kumar and Ritesh Deshmukh¹⁶. Akshay is dressed in a suit that has a contemporary ethnic twist with an embellished turban, sunglasses and stubble has him oozing with sex appeal. His style and persona totally eats the Baadshah of Bollywood up on screen.

Every time I see this song the only person I notice on screen is Akshay. His screen presence in this song is so amazing that I hardly notice anyone else!

Even endorsements like Levi Jeans show Akshay sizzling on television sets and billboards across India.

Reality show “Fear Factor Khatron Ki Khiladi¹⁷” – The formula of Akshays death defying stunts and stylish looks have him smouldering on screen.

His upcoming film “Action Replayy¹⁸” which releases the Diwali on the 5th of November has him rocking 70’s printed shirts and flares. I’m sure everyone will be pulling out there 70’s clobber after seeing this one!

Wherever he goes, whatever he does, Akshay exudes exceptional persona and stylishness. Anyone who takes a leaf out of Akshay’s style book will certainly be sure to turn those heads.

And in true Khiladi style till the next blog … DHISHUMMMM¹⁹!!!  x
